MAVINTY
STORY · BUILT ON THE HARDEST CASE

Built for the
athlete with
every excuse.

I'm Valeriy, 48. Three IRONMAN finishes — Klagenfurt, Barcelona, Bolton. IRONMAN All World Athlete Silver, 2020 season. A 2021 Kona slot I never used. Then a lumbar disc protrusion took five years. I didn't build Mavinty for the version of me that won that Silver. I built it for the one who came back at 48 with a back that vetoes sessions, a job, and a family.

→ The short version

The hard case came first.

Most training software is built for the athlete who has time and an intact body, and then apologises to everyone else. I went the other way, because I had no choice. Every rule in the engine had to survive a 48-year-old with a disc protrusion, a job, a family, and a Tuesday that gets eaten without warning.

That constraint is the whole design. Back pain of 3 or more caps the day before the plan is consulted at all; at 5 it calls the day off. Your calorie target moves with the training load of that specific day rather than sitting at one flat number. And because the engine knows a masters athlete cannot absorb load at the same rate, it enforces a lower ceiling on how fast your fitness is allowed to climb — read from your age, not a setting you have to go and find. Build for the athlete with every excuse and the athlete with none is a rounding error. The reverse is never true.

How I got here.

2018Entry

First marathons. First triathlon.

Picked up endurance racing seriously at 40. Florence Marathon, Kharkiv Epikur, Hackney Half, Oxford Half, MK Festival. First triathlon at Woburn Abbey. The year I learned racing is just training you measured.

2019Iron #1 · #2 · 70.3 · AWA

Three IRONMAN-certified finishes in one season.

Ayia Napa Olympic-distance, Cyprus. IRONMAN 70.3 Greece, Costa Navarino. IRONMAN Klagenfurt, Austria — 7 July. IRONMAN Barcelona, Spain — 6 October. Three IRONMAN-certified races in one calendar year. Earned IRONMAN All World Athlete Silver — 2nd in Ukraine, Global #565. First and only AWA tier in my career. Coached by static plans, club bricks, and stubbornness.

MK Winter Half. Then the world stopped.

One race in February, then twelve months of cancelled events. Trained anyway — Zwift, the same 3km loop, no pool. Maintenance year, no progression.

2021Iron #3 · Kona · Injury

Leeds. Bolton. Then a slot to Kona I couldn't use.

World Triathlon Leeds Olympic. Open Swim Kharkiv 3000m. Duathlon Kyiv Cup. IRONMAN UK Bolton — third full-distance finish. Through rolldown, I got the Kona slot for 9 October 2021. By race week I had L4–L5 disc protrusion and couldn't run a kilometre without pain. I withdrew.

Rehab. Comeback. Failed comeback. Repeat.

L4–L5 rehab. Bought popular plans. Tried two coaches. Static PDFs didn't survive my actual week. Coaches didn't have time for a returning amateur with a kid and a job. Quit twice. The fitness was gone, but the goal — race again before I age out of the sport — was still there.

2024Prototype

Built a scheduler for myself.

Wrote a small adaptive scheduler. It worked better than any plan I'd bought because it actually adapted to a 5am training window with a bad back. Friends asked if they could use it. Realised this was a product.

2025Mavinty v0.1

Engine, integrations, explain layer.

Built the daily check, weekly review, photo nutrition, plan adapter. Tested against my own re-entry training — on myself, every day, every workout. When something didn't work, I rebuilt that week. The proving ground starts now, in public.

2026–27The 4-race proof

I race on it. Race with me.

MK Winter Half — 6 December 2026. MK Marathon — 3 May 2027. IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań — 30 August 2027. IRONMAN Barcelona — 3 October 2027. Race reports published. Splits posted. Engine logs open. If it works, you'll know. If it doesn't, you'll know that too.

→ Why I'm doing this

A coach for the rest of us.

90% of amateurs can't afford a real coach. The other 10% don't need this product.

Coaching at a serious level costs £250–£400/month. That's two car payments, or a mortgage round-up, or your kid's swim lessons + piano. Most of us can't justify it — even when we want it.

The gap is filled by static PDF plans that ignore your week, your watch, and the fact that you bonked Sunday's long run. They don't adapt because they can't. They were designed once and printed forever.

I'm an amateur. I have a job. I train at 5am. I bonk sometimes. I miss workouts when family stuff happens. Mavinty was built understanding all that — because I'm the user.

The bet: if I can build a tool that works for me, on my terms, on my comeback — it'll work for the other 90% too. Not because I'm special. Because the constraints I face (time, money, recovery, life) are the same constraints you face.

If 14 months from now I'm at the start line in Calella, fit and ready, you'll have receipts. If I'm not, you'll have receipts too. That's the deal.

MK Winter Half
MILTON KEYNES · GBR · 6 DEC 2026
// Distance: HALF MARATHON
// Run 21.1km · road · winter
// Goal: run base restored, no pain
First number pinned on in 5 years. Validates the re-entry block — not a peak, a checkpoint. The tool's first public exam — race report published within 72hrs.
→ RACE 02 · RUN DURABILITY
MK Marathon
MILTON KEYNES · GBR · 3 MAY 2027
// Distance: MARATHON
// Run 42.2km · road · bank holiday
// Goal: the durability a 140.6 needs
A marathon block inside a triathlon season — the hardest thing to periodise well, and where a generic plan generator falls over.
→ RACE 03 · TUNE-UP
Poznań 70.3
POZNAŃ · POL · 30 AUG 2027
// Distance: 70.3
// Swim 1.9km · Bike 90km · Run 21.1km
// Goal: race-day systems rehearsal
Five weeks before the full. A dress rehearsal, not a peak — pacing, nutrition and transitions tested under race pressure while there is still time to fix what breaks.
→ RACE 04 · GOAL RACE
Barcelona 140.6
CALELLA · ESP · 3 OCT 2027
// Distance: FULL Iron
// Swim 3.8km · Bike 180km · Run 42.2km
// Goal: close pre-injury IRONMAN times
The full distance, on Mavinty, after 14 months of compounding. If it works here, it works. First IRONMAN start since Bolton 2021 — and a return to the coast where I finished in 2019.

Build the tool you'd buy. Use it on yourself. Show your work.
